What is the Random Color Generator?

Colours are generated in HSL — hue, saturation and lightness — which makes moods easy to control: pastels are light and moderately saturated, vivid colours are fully saturated at medium lightness, and “around one hue” keeps all colours within ±15° of the hue you choose.

Each swatch shows whether black or white text is more readable on it, based on WCAG relative luminance. For a full accessibility check of a text and background pair, use the Contrast Checker.
