CSV Viewer

Open a CSV or TSV file in your browser as a table: sort any column, search all cells, filter by column and download the filtered rows as a new CSV. Quoted fields, commas and line breaks inside quotes and UTF-8 files with a byte-order mark are handled. Files up to 25 MB stay on your device.

Your files never leave your device.

How to use the CSV Viewer

  1. 1Drop a .csv or .tsv file on the box (or paste CSV text). The delimiter — comma, semicolon, tab or pipe — is detected automatically.
  2. 2Click a column heading to sort it (again for descending, a third time to reset). Type in the search box to filter rows, or use “Filter by column” for one column at a time.
  3. 3Download the rows you see as a CSV file. Rows are shown 200 at a time; “Show more” loads the next ones.

What is the CSV Viewer?

CSV (comma-separated values) is the most common way to export data from spreadsheets, databases and online services, but double-clicking a CSV often opens it in a spreadsheet that guesses wrongly — turning long numbers into scientific notation or dates into a different format. This viewer shows every cell exactly as written in the file.

It follows the usual CSV rules (RFC 4180): fields in double quotes may contain commas and line breaks, and a doubled quote ("") inside a quoted field is a literal quote. Numbers sort numerically and text sorts naturally (file2 before file10). The whole file is parsed in memory, so the limit is 25 MB to keep the page responsive; a file of that size typically holds a few hundred thousand rows.

Frequently asked questions

Is my CSV file uploaded?

No. The file is read with your browser’s File API and parsed in this tab. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for customer lists and exports.

Why do some rows show “different number of cells”?

The row has more or fewer fields than the header — usually a wrong delimiter (try Semicolon for European exports) or an unclosed quote in the data.

Can it open Excel files?

No — .xlsx is a different, zipped format. In Excel or Google Sheets choose “Save as CSV (UTF-8)” first, then open the CSV here.

Does the download keep my sort and filters?

Yes. The CSV contains exactly the rows that match your search and filters, in the current sort order, with a UTF-8 byte-order mark so Excel reads accents correctly.

Is the CSV Viewer free and private?

Yes. The CSV Viewer is free, needs no account, and processes your files entirely in your browser. Files are never uploaded to a server or stored.
