How to use the Online Stopwatch
- 1Press Start (or the space bar).
- 2Press Lap (or L) to record a lap; the fastest and slowest laps are highlighted.
- 3Press Stop, then Reset (or R) to start over.
What is the Online Stopwatch?
The stopwatch measures elapsed time from your device’s high-resolution clock instead of counting ticks, so it stays accurate when the tab is in the background or the device is busy.
A lap time is the time since the previous lap; a split is the total time since the start. Both are shown for every lap.
Frequently asked questions
Does it keep running if I close the tab?
No — closing the page stops it. Switching to another tab or app is fine; the time keeps counting.
Is the Online Stopwatch free and private?
Yes. The Online Stopwatch is free, needs no account, and runs entirely in your browser. What you type is never sent to a server or stored.
