What is the Power Converter?

There are three common horsepowers: mechanical (imperial) hp = 745.7 W, used for US and UK car engines; metric hp (PS, CV, pk) = 735.5 W, used in Europe and Japan; and electrical hp = exactly 746 W, used for electric motors.

Air conditioners and heaters are rated in BTU per hour: 1 W = 3.412 BTU/h, and one “ton” of refrigeration is 12,000 BTU/h (about 3.517 kW) — the cooling power of melting one short ton of ice per day.

Results show up to 10 significant digits; very large or small values switch to scientific notation.
