SVG Optimizer

Make SVG files smaller with SVGO, the standard SVG optimiser: remove editor metadata, comments and hidden elements, round numbers and simplify paths. See the size saving and a before/after preview, then copy or download the result.

Your files never leave your device.

How to use the SVG Optimizer

  1. 1Drop an SVG file or paste its code.
  2. 2Adjust precision and options — the result updates automatically.
  3. 3Compare the previews, then copy or download the optimised SVG.

What is the SVG Optimizer?

SVGs exported from Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma or Sketch carry a lot that browsers don’t need: editor namespaces and metadata, comments, empty groups, default attribute values and coordinates with six decimal places. Removing them usually saves 20–60 % without any visible change, which speeds up pages that inline icons or logos.

Precision controls how many decimal places coordinates keep: 2–3 is safe for icons, while very small or detailed drawings may need more. “Remove width/height” keeps only the viewBox so the image scales to its container. Previews are rendered as images, so scripts inside an SVG never run on this page.

Frequently asked questions

Will optimising change how my SVG looks?

Normally not. If curves shift slightly, raise the precision; compare the before and after previews before using the result.

Should I gzip SVGs as well?

Yes — servers usually compress SVG with gzip or Brotli automatically. Optimising first still helps, because it removes data compression can’t.

Is the SVG Optimizer free and private?

Yes. The SVG Optimizer is free, needs no account, and processes your files entirely in your browser. Files are never uploaded to a server or stored.
