What is the Social Share Card Preview?

When a link is shared, most platforms build a card from the page’s Open Graph tags: og:title, og:description, og:image and the site’s domain. The common large layout is about 1.91:1 — an image of 1200 × 630 pixels is the usual recommendation — while some apps and messaging services show square or small thumbnails instead.

This tool is a mockup: it shows what you type, not what a live page currently publishes, and every platform crops and truncates a little differently and caches cards for days. What size should a share image be?

1200 × 630 pixels (1.91:1) is the safe default for Facebook and LinkedIn, and works for X’s large card with a slight crop. Keep text and faces away from the edges, because some apps crop to a square.

Does this read the tags from my website?

No. It doesn’t fetch any page; the preview uses only what you type. That makes it useful before a page is published.

Why isn’t the image in the downloaded PNG?

Browsers don’t allow drawing an image from another website into a downloadable file. Choose the image from your device and it will be included.
