Audio Converter
Convert audio files between formats in your browser: any format your browser can play — including the sound of MP4 and WebM videos — to MP3, WAV, M4A (AAC) or OGG (Opus), with bitrate, sample rate and mono options.
Your files never leave your device.
How to use the Audio Converter
- 1Drop an audio or video file.
- 2Choose the output format and bitrate (and sample rate or mono for MP3/WAV).
- 3Click Convert, listen to the result and download it.
What is the Audio Converter?
MP3 plays everywhere; WAV is uncompressed and lossless but large (about 10 MB per minute in stereo); M4A (AAC) and OGG (Opus) sound better than MP3 at the same bitrate. For speech, 64–96 kbps mono is plenty; for music, 192 kbps or more.
Converting from one lossy format to another can’t restore lost detail, so choose a bitrate at least as high as the source. M4A and OGG use your browser’s built-in encoders (WebCodecs) and aren’t available in every browser; MP3 and WAV always work.
Frequently asked questions
Can it convert FLAC or ALAC?
If your browser can play the file, it can convert it — FLAC works in all modern browsers; ALAC mainly in Safari.
Is the Audio Converter free and private?
Yes. The Audio Converter is free, needs no account, and processes your files entirely in your browser. Files are never uploaded to a server or stored.
