How to use the Cooking Measurement Converter

  1. 1Enter the amount and choose the unit you have and the unit you want.
  2. 2Pick the ingredient — it matters when converting between volume (cups, spoons) and weight (grams, ounces).
  3. 3Read the result; kitchen fractions such as ⅓ cup are shown where they fit.

What is the Cooking Measurement Converter?

Volume and weight can only be converted with the ingredient’s density: a cup of water weighs 237 g, a cup of all-purpose flour about 120 g and a cup of honey about 336 g. The tool uses typical weights for a level, spooned cup from published baking charts; weighing with a kitchen scale is always the most accurate.

Cup sizes differ by country: a US cup is 236.6 ml, a metric cup (Australia, New Zealand, Canada) 250 ml, and old British recipes used a 284 ml imperial cup. One US tablespoon is 3 teaspoons (14.8 ml); an Australian tablespoon is 20 ml.
