What is the Word Counter?
A word is counted as any run of letters or numbers, including contractions (don’t) and hyphenated words (well-known). This matches how most word processors count, so results line up with Microsoft Word and Google Docs for typical text.
Reading time assumes 238 words per minute (the average for adults reading silently); speaking time assumes 150 words per minute.

Is the Word Counter free and private?
