Flag Explorer
Browse the flags of 250 countries and territories in a grid or compact list, filter by continent and region, search by country, capital or ISO code, and click any flag for country details. A quick multiple-choice quiz tests what you’ve learned.
This tool runs entirely in your browser.
How to use the Flag Explorer
- 1Scroll the grid or switch to the compact list with capitals and codes.
- 2Filter by continent and region, or search for a country, capital or ISO code.
- 3Click a flag for the country’s details and copy buttons.
- 4Press “Quiz me” for 10 multiple-choice questions from the flags you’ve filtered.
What is the Flag Explorer?
Flags are shown as emoji, which are built from two “regional indicator” letters matching the country’s ISO code — 🇩🇪 is D + E. That keeps the page light and lets you copy a flag straight into a message. Windows doesn’t draw flag emoji and shows the two letters instead, which is why the ISO code is always printed next to each flag.
Filtering by continent or region also limits the quiz, so you can practise one part of the world at a time. For a longer game, try Guess the Flag in the games section.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I see letters instead of flags?
Windows has no flag emoji, so it shows the two regional-indicator letters (for example DE). macOS, iOS, Android and Linux show the flags.
Can I copy a flag emoji?
Yes — open a country and use the “Flag emoji” copy button.
Is the Flag Explorer free and private?
Yes. The Flag Explorer is free, needs no account, and runs entirely in your browser. What you type is never sent to a server or stored.
