  2. 2Read the browser, engine, operating system and device for each, and any bot warning.
  3. 3Click “Copy as CSV” to take the results to a spreadsheet.

What is the User Agent Parser?

Browsers send a user-agent string with every request, and it ends up in server logs and analytics. The format is a historical mess — every browser claims to be “Mozilla/5.0” and Chrome-based browsers also mention Safari — so the parser checks the specific tokens in the right order (Edg/ before Chrome/, CriOS for Chrome on iPhone, “; wv)” for Android WebViews).

Bot detection recognises search-engine crawlers, AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot…), link-preview bots and common scripts. Any client can fake its user agent, so for real Googlebot or Bingbot traffic confirm it with a reverse DNS lookup of the IP address.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the Windows version “10 or 11”?

Windows 11 browsers still send “Windows NT 10.0”, so the string alone can’t tell them apart. Only User-Agent Client Hints, read live by a browser, can.

Why are versions like 130.0.0.0?

Chrome reduced the user agent for privacy: minor version numbers are frozen to 0. The full version is only available through Client Hints.

Is the User Agent Parser free and private?

Yes. The User Agent Parser is free, needs no account, and runs entirely in your browser. What you type is never sent to a server or stored.
