JSON Viewer & Tree Explorer

Paste JSON or open a .json file to explore it as a collapsible tree: see each value’s type, array lengths and key counts, search keys and values, and copy any node’s value, JSON path (like users[0].profile.name) or pretty-printed subtree.

Your files never leave your device.

What is the JSON Viewer & Tree Explorer?

A JSON viewer shows a document as a tree instead of a wall of text, so you can see its shape at a glance: every object shows how many keys it has, every array how many items, and every value is labelled as a string, number, boolean or null.

Paths are written the way you would type them in JavaScript — users[0].profile.name — with keys that aren’t valid identifiers in brackets, like ["first name"]. Turn on the $ option for JSONPath style ($.users[0].profile.name) used by tools such as jq-like filters, Postman tests and JSONPath libraries.

Big files stay responsive because only the rows you can see are drawn and children are built only when their parent is opened. Invalid JSON is reported with the line and column of the first error, and everything — including files you open — stays in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get the path to a value in JSON?

Click the value in the tree (or search for it), then press Copy JSON path. You get a path like orders[2].items[0].sku that you can paste into code, or $.orders[2].items[0].sku with the JSONPath option on.

Can it open large JSON files?

Yes — files of several megabytes work because the tree only renders the rows on screen. Expand all stops after the first 2,000 objects and arrays on huge documents; use search or open branches one by one to go deeper.

Why does it say my JSON is invalid?

Common causes are trailing commas, single quotes, comments or unquoted keys — all allowed in JavaScript but not in JSON. The error shows the line and column where parsing stopped, which is usually right after the real mistake.

Is my JSON uploaded anywhere?

No. Parsing, searching and copying all happen in your browser; opened files are read locally and never sent to a server.

Is the JSON Viewer & Tree Explorer free and private?

Yes. The JSON Viewer & Tree Explorer is free, needs no account, and processes your files entirely in your browser. Files are never uploaded to a server or stored.
