Date Format Converter

Convert a date — or a list of dates, one per line — between ISO 8601 (YYYY-MM-DD), DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY, DD.MM.YYYY, written-out formats and more. Ambiguous dates such as 03/04/2026 are flagged instead of guessed, calendar dates are checked (including leap years) and dates never shift across time zones.

This tool runs entirely in your browser.

How to use the Date Format Converter

  1. 1Type or paste a date, or a list with one date per line.
  2. 2Leave the input format on Detect, or choose it — you must choose when a date like 03/04/2026 could be read two ways.
  3. 3Pick the output format and copy the result. A single date is shown in every format at once.

What is the Date Format Converter?

The same date is written differently around the world: 14/10/2026 in the UK, Europe and most of the world, 10/14/2026 in the United States, 2026-10-14 in ISO 8601 (the international standard used in software and filenames) and 14.10.2026 in Germany. Dates where both the day and month are 12 or less are genuinely ambiguous — 03/04/2026 is 3 April in London and March 4 in New York — so the converter shows both readings and asks rather than guessing.

The converter works with calendar dates only: year, month and day. It never turns them into a timestamp in your local time zone, which is how many tools accidentally move a date to the previous day. It checks that the date exists — 29 February only in leap years, which are divisible by 4 except century years not divisible by 400 — and reads two-digit years only when you choose that format (00–49 as 2000–2049, 50–99 as 1950–1999).

Frequently asked questions

Why does it ask me to choose a format?

Because the date is ambiguous: 03/04/2026 is 3 April in day-first countries and March 4 in the US. Choose the input format and every line is read the same way.

Which format should I use for files and databases?

ISO 8601, YYYY-MM-DD. It is unambiguous worldwide and sorts correctly as text.

Can it convert dates with times?

No — times bring time zones into play. Use the Timestamp Converter for dates with times, Unix timestamps and time zones.

Is 2100 a leap year?

No. Century years are leap years only if divisible by 400, so 2000 was a leap year but 2100 won’t be.

Is the Date Format Converter free and private?

Yes. The Date Format Converter is free, needs no account, and runs entirely in your browser. What you type is never sent to a server or stored.
